U.S. authorities say a Canadian resident has been arrested in Quebec over an alleged Islamic State terror plot to kill Jewish people in New York. The U.S. Department of Justice says Pakistani national Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, 20, also known as Shahzeb Jadoon, was arrested on Wednesday in relation to the attack it says was to take place around Oct. 7, the anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel last year.
Veteran leader and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Olympian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who joined the party on Friday, state chief Udai Bhan, and former minister Geeta Bhukkal are among the 31 names in the Congress' first list of candidates for the October 5 Haryana Assembly elections. While Hooda will contest from Garhi Sampla-Killoi in Rohtak district, Phogat will make her electoral debut from Julana in Jind district.
The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has seized 194.850 kg marijuana valued at Rs 42.86 lakh from a warehouse in the Vatva GIDC area. Seven persons hailing from Odisha, Bihar, and Nepal have been arrested in connection with the case which has come as a significant blow to the city's drug trade.
At least 15 people, including four women and an equal number of children, were killed after a roadways bus collided with the van they were travelling in on National Highway 93 here, officials said. Thirteen people have also been injured in the accident which took place on Friday and admitted to a government hospital.

A man is lucky to be alive after his vehicle went off the road in Nelson, flipped over and caught fire. Police say the motorist was driving yesterday morning when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a large rock.
