Two explosions near the burial site of Iran's slain general Qassem Soleimani killed at least 103 people and wounded over 170 others on Wednesday, reported the official IRNA news agency and the semi-official Fars news agency, calling it "terrorist" attacks. The blasts occurred as many people gathered at the cemetery in Iran's southeastern city of Kerman to mark the fourth anniversary of Soleimani's death in a U.S. drone strike, Xinhua news agency reported.
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday dismissed a habeas corpus plea filed by Parliament security breach case accused Neelam Azad seeking immediate release from the custody of Delhi Police. The counsel for Delhi Police opposed the plea's maintainability, stating: "The prayer is not maintainable, whereas this issue is already pending before the trial court."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday condoled the deaths of 12 people in a road accident in the state's Golaghat district. The accident which occurred at about 5 a.m. in the Balijan area near Dergaon town also left 25 people injured.
India has recorded 602 new Covid-19 infections in the past 24 hours, pushing the the total number of active cases to 4,440 on Wednesday. The country had recorded 865 new cases on May 19.
