A 16-year-old boy reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Burail, Sector 45, this morning. The victim was working as a helper at a tyre shop in Mani Majra.
 
According to the police, the victim has been identified as Laadi. Sources said the victim was alone at home when he took the extreme step. The victim was upset since yesterday following which he did not go to work today.
 
The police said the victim’s sister returned home around 1 pm and found the door locked from inside. She then peeped inside through a window and found her brother hanging. She informed her neighbours, who broke the door. 
 
The police were informed about the incident. 
 
The victim was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, where doctors declared him brought dead. The autopsy will be conducted tomorrow. 
 
The police said no suicide note was recovered from the spot. The victim is survived by his father, a painter, an elder sister and a younger brother. The vicitm’s mother had died in 2004. Inquest proceedings have been initiated by the police at the Sector 34 police station
