70-Year-Old Man Booked For Allegedly Raping Maid In Hyderabad

    A 70-year-old retired government employee has been booked for allegedly raping the maid working at his house in Madhapur area of Hyderabad, police said today.
     
    The 27-year-old woman, who was working at the house of M Somi Reddy for the past five months, on Tuesday lodged a complaint with Madhapur police against Mr Reddy, accusing him of raping her on two occasions and also attempting to rape her on June 10, though she managed to escape from his house, Sub-Inspector A Satyanarayana said.
     
    Based on the complaint, a case was booked under section 376 (rape) of IPC and under relevant sections of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, as the woman is from the Lambada community, the police officer said.
     
    "As of now a case of rape has been registered and further investigations are underway," he said.
     
    The woman has been sent for medical examination and further probe is on, the Mr Satyanarayana said, but declined to comment if the accused was taken into custody or put under arrest.
