AAP slams BJP for appointing Yeddyurappa as vice president

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 16 Aug, 2014 12:02 PM
The AAP Saturday said that BJP has completely compromised with corruption and criminalisation of politics by appointing former Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa as its vice-president.

"The nomination of former Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa as BJP vice president on Saturday, barely five weeks after Amit Shah was anointed the BJP chief, has made it clear that the BJP has completely compromised with corruption and criminalisation of politics," the party said in a statement.

The Aam Aadmi Party said that Yeddyurappa, in his affidavit for the Lok Sabha elections, had stated that 14 cases of corruption were pending against him.

"The appointment of those facing serious charges of corruption and criminalisation as BJP office bearers, cannot be termed as the party's internal matter, since these office bearers would be taking part in important deliberations like all-party meetings on these issues," it further said.

Yeddyurappa, Bandaru Dattatreya and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was appointed BJP vice presidents Saturday as Shah unveiled his new team.
