Amarinder Singh Alleges ISI Hand Behind 'Referendum 2020' Mobile App, Demands Removal from Google Playstore

Darpan News Desk IANS, 08 Nov, 2019 10:36 PM

Netizens took to Twitter on Friday to urge Google to take down the controversial '2020 Sikh Referendum app' immediately.

"#Google mobile app '2020 Sikh Referendum' To Target #Sikhs At #Kartarpur #Pakistan To push #Khalistan2020 #Kartarpur2Khalistan2020 Shame @Google to allow such radicalization," a user wrote.

"Now, anti-India propaganda 'Khalistan' is on Google Play Store. How can GooglePlay allow radicalization on its platform? This '2020 Sikh Referendum' app is radicalizing youth for Khalistan against India. And, Pakistanis are operating this application," another user wrote.

The app is currently listed on the Google Play Store with more than 1,000 downloads, which promotes an online secessionist campaign, launched by US-based group -- Sikhs for Justice.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh directed his officers to take up the matter appropriately and asked the technology company to remove it and even urged the Centre to direct the company to take down the app immediately.

The App, freely available for download on Google Play, is clearly aimed at pushing the ISI agenda of dividing the Sikh community amid the 550th Prakash Purab celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev, said the Chief Minister.

The timing of the launch of App indicates a patently sinister agenda by the ISI to leverage the opportunity created by the Kartarpur Corridor to divide the Indian Sikh community, said Amarinder Singh.
