Back At Helm, Bhagwant Mann Now Defends Arvind Kejriwal

Darpan News Desk IANS, 31 Jan, 2019 09:49 PM

Ten months after resigning from the post of AAP state president to protest party chief Arvind Kejriwal’s apology to Akali minister Bikram Singh Majithia, Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann defended Kejriwal’s step saying he needed to focus on the party and governance in Delhi.

Mann assumed the post again and insisted that his and his party’s fight against drugs and commitment to expose links of Akali leaders with drug smugglers would continue. Manish Sisodia, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Punjab political affairs incharge, presided over Mann’s reinstatement ceremony.

Mann said a few days ago, he had met the party’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi on the apology issue. He said Kejriwal had not given a clean chit to the Akali minister on the drug smuggling issue.

On his alleged drinking habit, Mann said some vested interests were trying to tarnish his public image by portraying him as a drunkard.

Mann expressed gratitude to the party for reposing its faith in him and accused Capt Amarinder Singh and Badals of being hand in glove with one another.

He alleged during the SAD-BJP rule, their leaders had driven the youth to drug addiction by conniving with drug lords. He said even Congress MLAs had been urging Capt Amarinder Singh to take action against Badals and the drug mafia so that they could visit their constituencies without any fear.
