BSF shoots down Pakistani drone in Punjab, 10 kg heroin seized

Chandigarh, May 9 (IANS) The Border Security Force (BSF) shot down a Pakistani drone close to the international border in Punjab's Amritsar early Monday and recovered nine yellow packets of contraband.
The weight of the heroin was found to be 10 kg with packing material.
In a tweet, the BSF said, "BSF troops foiled another smuggling attempt through Pak drone. Vigilant BSF troops fired at the drone coming from Pak and brought it down. Drone carrying 9 packets suspected to be heroin (10.670 kg) in a bag were also recovered."
The troops sounded an alert.
Punjab shares a 553-km barbed-wire fenced international border with Pakistan which is under the vigil of nearly 135 BSF battalions. The drug network operates along the Afghanistan-Pakistan-India route.
Karwa Chauth Special Train: Only married couples were allowed on the Majestic Rajasthan Deluxe train, which came with special features like shower cubicles and a foot massager, among other features. The Railways had also made special arrangements for children, the officials said.
Tejas Express on the Lucknow-Delhi route, which was flagged off on October 4, is the Railways' first experience of running a train by non-railway operator, its own subsidiary, IRCTC.
The carrier will also start a direct flight between Amritsar and Patna from October 27, he said, adding that a 162-seater aircraft will operate on the route.
Shah, who had attended a Dussehra rally in Beed on October 8, is scheduled to address another series of election rallies in Maharashtra on October 11, according to party sources.
Mehsana, Gujarat: The local police rushed to the spot and sent the body for autopsy, which confirmed that the child had died of acid attack injuries, said deputy superintendent of police Manjita Vanzara.
