Punjab's Chief Minister-elect Amarinder Singh visited his ailing mother Mohinder Kaur at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here on Wednesday.

Kaur, aged around 95, was hospitalised in Patiala on Tuesday evening after she complained of uneasiness and was later shifted to PGIMER in Chandigarh.

Amarinder met his mother and also discussed her health with doctors.

Talking to media after visiting his mother, Amarinder said her condition was stable though she continues to be under observation.

PGIMER doctors said that Kaur had GI (Gastro-Intestinal) bleeding. They said that she would remain in hospital for some more investigations.

Amarinder Singh will be sworn-in as Chief Minister of Punjab here on Thursday after the Congress swept the Punjab assembly polls on Saturday.
