Case registered against AAP MLA for misbehaving with locals

Darpan News Desk IANS, 23 Jun, 2016 11:01 AM
A case has been registered against AAP legislator from Sangam Vihar, Dinesh Mohaniya, after few local residents complained he had misbehaved with them when they went to report irregular water supply problem in the area, police said on Thursday.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Nupur Prasad told IANS: "Few local women residents complained of Mohaniya misbehaving with them after they went to his office to report the water scarcity problem in the area."

According to sources, the incident occurred on Wednesday in Sangam Vihar area of south Delhi when the women went to the residence-cum-office of the legislator. However, instead of listening to their grievances, Mohaniya and few of his supporters allegedly misbehaved with them and also threatened them.

Mohania is also the vice-chairman of Delhi Jal Board.

"A case has been registered and we are probing into the matter," the ADCP added.

Asked if Mohaniya will be summoned by police for questioning, she said: "Right now its too early to comment on this."

Mohaniya has been charged under Sections 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation), 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code, the officer said.
