Chandigarh India's 'Happiest City', Delhi 'Happiest Metro'

IANS, 11 Jun, 2015 12:27 PM
Chandigarh is India's 'Happiest City' while Delhi is the country's 'Happiest Metro', a study commissioned by multinational electronics company LG has found.

Happiness is the most important aspect of life for people across the country, compared to respect, trust, success or recognition, LG Life's Good Happiness Study revealed.

Chandigarh, Lucknow, Delhi, Chennai and Bengaluru are the happiest cities in India.

Also, the study said, Indians in the age group of 35-45 are happier compared with those aged 18-24.

"While the importance of being happy is most important for younger age groups - with 58 percent aged 18-24 ranking happiness as their most important core value - it is the older people aged 35-45, with a happiness index of 103, who are happier as compared with the younger people," the study said.

"LG Life's Good Happiness Study is a manifestation of our brand philosophy, which is to develop and market products that make our consumers' lives happy. It has been undertaken to understand the social construct of happiness," LG India managing director Soon Kwon said.

He said that his company planned to undertake similar studies every year.

The study was conducted by market researcher IMRB International with a sample size of 2,424 respondents across 16 cities. The target groups were aged between 18-45.
