Delhi: Teenage Girl Attempts Suicide After Being Sexually Harassed By Cop

    A teenage girl allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison after being harassed by a Delhi Police constable to have sexual relations with her, police said on Tuesday.
     
    Sangeeta attempted to kill herself on Monday after being repeatedly harassed by Manjit (28), the constable who is a resident of Sirodhan village, SP (City), Ram Mohan Singh, said.
     
    The girl was admitted to a hospital in serious condition by her parents, Singh said, adding, her condition is now stated to be stable.
     
     
    Manjit threatened to implicate Sangeeta’s younger brother in a false case if she told anyone about him following which she took the extreme step, the SP said.
     
    A case has been registered against the accused under section 354 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage her modesty) following a complaint by the victim’s father.
     
    Manjit is absconding, the SP added.
