Demonetisation: This Explanation By Yogendra Yadav For Delayed Cash Deposit Is Bang On

IANS, 20 Dec, 2016 12:58 PM
Political activist and former AAP member Yogendra Yadav visited his bank today to deposit a ‘small amount’, which must be more than Rs 5,000, and the explanation he gave is being lauded by many on social media.

Coming straight to the point, Yadav, in a handwritten letter, wrote that he didn’t visit the bank before because he wanted to avoid queues and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself asked people time and again to not rush because there’s enough time till December 30.

“I have made no cash deposit in my account since 8 november 2016. I see no reason to offer any special explanation for the same [for making the deposit now]. I normally like and wait for the queues to end. I was assured by the Prime Minister, the Finance Minister and the RBI that there was no need to rush to the banks and that I had till 30 December for making any deposit. I believed them,” he wrote.

He uploaded the letter on Facebook and Twitter, which immediately went viral. Not only are people praising the content of the letter but also his handwriting, which indeed is beautiful! “Absolutely right !!!! This Govt has made people mad. First – No hurry deposit whenever you like upto 30th December and now show reasons !! What an utter non-sense,” commented someone on the post.

However, there were some who questioned the authenticity of the letter and also whether his account is not linked with his Aadhaar card. “Rs 5000 limit is for non-KYC bank account. Do you have bank accounts which haven’t been linked with Aadhar card?” wrote another.
