A diamond jewellery store was allegedly looted at gunpoint in the shopping hub of Sector 17 here on Sunday by three unidentified people, police said.

Police sources said that diamonds and jewellery worth crores could have been looted in the daylight robbery.

"Three people, including a woman, entered the shop posing as customers. One of them pulled out a gun and they looted the shop," said a police official at the spot.

There were two staff members inside the diamond shop when the incident took place. The shop's security guard was not present when the incident happened.

The robbers remained inside the shop for nearly 30 minutes. While leaving the shop after the robbery, the robbers took away the CCTV recorder (DVR) with them.

"We are trying to identify the robbers from CCTV footage of nearby shops in the market. They seemed to be young and one of them had visited the shop on Saturday also," the police official said.
