Ex-Armyman Allegedly Kills Wife For Not Being Able To Conceive, Arrested

Darpan News Desk IANS, 19 Dec, 2016 01:03 PM
An ex-serviceman allegedly killed his 31-year-old wife on Sunday for not being able to conceive, near Syana town in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr, police said.

The victim, Meena, a resident of Kailashpuri locality was married to Bhajan Lal, 41, who hails from Salana village of Hapur district. They tied the knot 11-years ago, police superintendent Maan Singh Chauhan said.

Her husband and in-laws used to beat her up and her body was found near Syana town, they said.

Bhajan Lal had initially told the police that both of them were attacked by some miscreants while they were on their way back home and Meena was killed during the scuffle.

On sustained interrogation, Bhajan broke down and confessed to have committed the crime, saying that he killed her because of her inability to conceive even after 11-years of marriage.

Bhajan Lal had sought voluntary retirement from his services in August last year.

An FIR has been registered in this connection and investigation is underway, police said.
