Gurugram, June 6 (IANS) A man has been arrested for allegedly extorting Rs 50,000 from a person, posing as a fake police officer, police said.
According to the police, the victim filed a complaint on June 1, that a person contacted him through a website and sought service from him.
The suspect called the complainant to Cyber Park Sector-39, Gurugram and made him sit in a Swift DZire car, the suspects then introduced themselves as policemen and threatened to send him to jail for committing a cyber crime, police said.
The victim remained in the car, meanwhile another person who introduced himself as a senior police officer, demanded Rs 1 lakh, the victim then transferred Rs 50,000 from his brother's account to the account mentioned by the suspects.
The accused threatened the victim of dire consequences if he revealed the matter to anyone, and asked him to arrange the remaining amount.
Following a complaint, a case was registered at the Sadar Police Station.
During the probe, police nabbed one suspect, who was identified as Sunil Kumar, from Jaipur in Rajasthan on Monday.
"The accused has confessed that he along with his associates was involved in the crime. A Swift DZire car was also recovered from his possession used in the crime," Jaswant Singh, the investigating officer of the case, said.
The arrested have been identified as Onkar Singh, Sukhjinder Singh, and Prabhjot Singh of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. The police have seized at least nine passports, besides recovering several photocopies of passports of absconding gangsters prepared using fake particulars.
The judge also said that the purported medical condition of Sisodia's wife was not a reason to grant him bail in this case. Additionally, he stated that it was impossible to rule out the potential of Sisodia influencing key witnesses in the case.
The Delhi Police is also scheduled to file its reply to Vikas Walkar's (Shraddha's father) application seeking the release of his daughter's remains to perform last rites.Special Public Prosecutor Amit Prasad had, during the last hearing, said that the police will file a reply on the application on the next date of hearing.
As part of the operation, India has positioned two heavy-lift military transport aircraft in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah and a naval ship at a key port in violence-hit Sudan as part of its contingency plans to evacuate its stranded nationals.
Vikrant alias Mental (25), a resident of Sangam Vihar, had recently taken control of Prince Tewatia's gang. He was wanted in three cases, including murder. Police have recovered two automatic pistols, three country-made pistols and 16 bullets from Vikrant's possession.
He is survived by son and former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and daughter Parneet Kaur and grandchildren. He lost his life-partner, Surinder Kaur, in 2011.
