Funds Given To AAP During Last Election Have Been Accounted For, Says Bhagwant Mann

  • Funds Given To AAP During Last Election Have Been Accounted For, Says Bhagwant Mann

Facing allegations from Punjab Democratic Alliance (PDA) Sangrur candidate Jassi Jasraj of misappropriation of funds received during the last election, Punjab AAP chief and Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday offered to account for each penny his party had received.

“Funds came from the NRIs with their passport details and we have uploaded the details on our website. Jassi is levelling baseless allegations as funds were given to the party and not individually to Bhagwant Mann,” Mann told The Tribune at the Sangrur railway station after arriving here from New Delhi.

Mann will inaugurate the election office of the party’s Jalandhar candidate on Wednesday.
Talking about the response to his recent appeal for funds, Mann said, “People have started donating money as per their capacity. Each penny is priceless for me. The denomination of the currency may be less, but the emotions attached are priceless,” he said.

Talking about the transfer of IG Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, he said his party would meet the Election Commission on Wednesday and submit an application to review the decision as it would hamper the ongoing SIT investigation into the police firing at Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura.

“We were apprehensive whether CM Capt Amarinder Singh would allow action against SAD leaders and our worst fears have come true. People of the state are well aware that both SAD and Congress leaders are supporting each other,” Mann said.

He said many NRIs had already started campaigning for the AAP in Punjab and reached Bathinda, Jalandhar, Gurdaspur and other districts.

“Many NRIs have reached Punjab and started campaigning for the AAP. More are also coming in the next few days,” Mann said.

PDA Sangrur candidate Jassi Jasraj has made the “misappropriation of funds” an issue and is raising it during his meetings in Sangrur constituency while seeking votes.
