Darpan News Desk IANS, 31 Jan, 2019 10:14 PM

The Patiala Police have foiled a new methodology to supply opium and other drugs in Punjab, wherein the peddlers were using luxury vehicles to smuggle the contraband into Punjab.

Police have arrested Haryana resident Jaswinder Singh along with his girlfriends who were travelling in a Sports luxury vehicle and have recovered 3.2 kg of pure opium.

Police sources confirmed that the notorious smugglers Jaswinder Singh Sarpanch has spent eight years in jail for a similar offence and was recently released.

“He confirms to have supplied the drugs in various parts of Punjab following order for the same,” he said.

Police said that Jaswinder used to travel with his girlfriend. He himself wore gold ornaments worth lakhs, including a 250-grams gold chain and a bracelet.

Two luxury vehicles, which were used to ferry drugs on order in Punjab, were recovered from him. Police are grilling him to ascertain how rich clients in Punjab used him for home delivery of drugs.

Sources said some police officers could also face the music, who were regularly in touch with him, on phone.
