A day after the government discontinued Rs. 500 and 1000 notes in a shock announcement to curb black money, sacks full of burnt notes were found in Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.
Tens of thousands of people struggled in paying for daily essentials on Wednesday, a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi invalidated the large currency notes of Rs 500 and 1,000 in a bid to crack down on unaccounted wealth, corruption and terror financing.
The Prime Minister said in a televised address that all the 500 and 1,000 denomination notes can be deposited in banks and post offices between November 10 and December 30.
