  • India's oldest Indian Air Force pilot celebrates 100th birthday

A huge milestone for an Indian Air Force member.  Dalip Singh Majithia, celebrated his 100th birthday on Monday making him the oldest living IAF fighter pilot. Congratulatory remarks poured in for Majithia all over social media. Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria extended his warm birthday wishes to the centenarian who had retired in August 1947 during India's Independence over Twitter.

It was in the summer of 1940 in August that Majithia, the young Sikh pilot took off on his first training flight in a Tiger Moth aircraft from the Walton airfield in Lahore, Pakistan with his two instructors of British heritage. 

At the age of 20, Dalip Singh Majithia flew his first solo flight and flew to great heights and soared skies til his retirement.
