Jalandhar Man Held For Allegedly Smuggling Jewellery At Delhi Airport

    A man has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country jewellery worth Rs. 23.5 lakh at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi.
     
    The accused, who hails from Punjab's Jalandhar, was intercepted by the customs officials after his arrival yesterday from London.
     
    "On personal and baggage search, jewellery made of gold studded with diamond valued at Rs. 23.5 lakh were recovered from the passenger," said Govind Garg, Deputy Commissioner of customs at the airport.
     
    The passenger has been arrested and the jewellery has been seized, he said.
