US Secretary of State John Kerry called up External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to congratulate her, an official said Thursday.
 
"The US secretary called up Sushma Swaraj late last night (Wednesday). He congratulated her and the party (BJP) on its election victory," Syed Akbaruddin, spokesperson, ministry of external affairs told IANS.
 
Akbaruddin said this was the first congratulatory call and there would be more ahead in the day.
 
He also said in a tweet that they spoke on re-energising relationship.
 
"Re-energising Relations! Sushma Swaraj and John Kerry discuss re-energising the strategic partnership in (their) first talk," he said.
