Moosewala murder: Punjab Police get transit remand of 2 accused

New Delhi, July 14 (IANS) A court here on Thursday granted one-day transit remand of two persons arrested in connection with the murder case of singer-turned-politician Sidhu Moosewala, to Punjab Police.
The two accused -- Ankit Sersa and Sachin Chaudhary had been in the custody of the Delhi Police in an arms case.
Chief metropolitan magistrate Snigdha Sarvaria granted their transit remand to the Mansa Police SIT team that is probing the murder of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala.
Ankit Sersa and Sachin Chaudhary -- who were presented at the Patiala House Court in the national capital, will be again presented at Punjab's Mansa court on Friday.
During the course of the hearing, the Punjab Police claimed the accused were involved in the murder of Moosewala and therefore, their questioning was required.
Advocate Vishal Chopra, who had appeared for the accused persons, expressed concern on their safety and security. However, the Punjab Police told the court that sufficient steps have been taken for the safety and security of both the accused.
The police also said they are all set with a team of 36 armed police personnel and six vehicles for the transit of the accused persons.
The court was also told that the transit will be video-recorded.
After launching the web-portal amidst presence of DIG (Cyber Crime) Nilambari Jagdale and DSP Samarpal Singh, the DGP congratulated the entire team for developing this user-friendly portal, which could be easily accessed by anyone to report cyber frauds.
A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Navin Chawla noted that the interim status report filed by the Delhi Police shows that the police force failed to prevent miscreants from reaching the residence of the Chief Minister and vandalising the area.
In a record, the Punjab Government said it cleared payments of Rs 13,000 crore of farmers for procurement of wheat till Monday, state Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak said. He said this was the highest payment in the past decade.
The victims, both from West Bengal, were rushed to the SMHS hospital in Srinagar, where the condition of one is stated to be critical while the other is stable.
A case in this connection was registered against Ranjit Gogoi, the then Director of Information and Public Relation, Assam, and different private companies, for alleged misappropriation of the state government's money. The ED had initiated a money laundering investigation on the basis of CM's Vigilance Cell FIR lodged in 2017 against the accused.
