A man has been arrested in Mumbai for allegedly slapping his 4-year-old son repeatedly, the police said on Monday.
Azruddin Qutybuddin Shaikh, 30, was arrested after a video of him slapping his son went viral, Senior Inspector Deepak Pagare said.
"The man said he hit the child as he was constantly crying. The video was shot by his wife," he added.
Police said that the man has been charged under the Juvenile Justice Act but was released on bail.
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday sought a response by the police on a plea by Yashpal Singh challenging the death sentence awarded to him in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.
The delegation had detailed deliberations with the members of the community, where certain requests were made by the Sikhs for monetary assistance.
The man took his children to the roof and pushed them -- a six-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl -- into flames of burning dry dung manure.

The deceased has been identified as Sushil Chauhan, a resident of New Usmanpur.
