A man has been arrested in Mumbai for allegedly slapping his 4-year-old son repeatedly, the police said on Monday.
Azruddin Qutybuddin Shaikh, 30, was arrested after a video of him slapping his son went viral, Senior Inspector Deepak Pagare said.
"The man said he hit the child as he was constantly crying. The video was shot by his wife," he added.
Police said that the man has been charged under the Juvenile Justice Act but was released on bail.
According to police, K Shiva Kumar had got married on August 15. The couple used to quarrel quite frequently over petty issues and Kumar's wife used to rebuke him for continuously chatting over the messaging app.
The man had kidnapped the child to recover a due of Rs. 2 lakh from the boy's father, police said.

Jaswinder Kaur, 35, had claimed on Wednesday that the police forced her to sit atop a jeep and paraded her through her village in Amritsar district when they failed to arrest her father-in-law Balwant Singh.
According to preliminary investigations, her husband, a daily wager worker, was irritated over the woman talking to some one over mobile phone and took it away.
