A man has been arrested in Mumbai for allegedly slapping his 4-year-old son repeatedly, the police said on Monday.
Azruddin Qutybuddin Shaikh, 30, was arrested after a video of him slapping his son went viral, Senior Inspector Deepak Pagare said.
"The man said he hit the child as he was constantly crying. The video was shot by his wife," he added.
Police said that the man has been charged under the Juvenile Justice Act but was released on bail.
When asked about the Karnataka chief minister's comment last month that Amit Shah is a Jain, the BJP chief said, "I am not a Jain, but a Hindu Vaishnav."
A senior police officer said a complaint that the boy had gone missing was received at Okhla Phase III police outpost on April 2, following which a case was registered.
The men were allegedly trained by an Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agent through social media to disturb communal harmony in the state.
The accused absconded as soon as he got the information that the matter was reported to the police.
The accused -- identified as a cabbie from Byculla, Rafiq Khan -- and the victim were known to each other and he molested her after an alteration over money in the train.
