Navjot Sidhu Tries To Give Chase To Bikram Majithia As War Of Words Turns Ugly

Darpan News Desk IANS, 19 Feb, 2019 03:49 AM

There was high drama in the Punjab Assembly on Monday as Local Bodies Minister Navjot Sidhu tried to give chase to Akali MLA Bikram Majithia after the war of words between the two turned ugly.

Sidhu was prevented by his party MLAs from doing so.

This happened as Finance Minister Manpreet Badal was presenting the state Budget.
Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa also expressed anger over the “inability of his government” to nail down Majithia.

An aggressive Sidhu told CM Capt Amarinder Singh, “We should be ashamed that we are not taking any action against Majithia.”

As Parminder Pinki tried to calm him down, Sidhu pushed him away.

As the House was adjourned till 1 pm, Randhawa and other Congress MLAs expressed their anger over the “government’s inability” to nail down Akalis; attracting support from AAP and LIP MLAs.

Earlier, as the Punjab Assembly reconvened for the Budget session, SAD leaders raised slogans against Sidhu for his remarks on the Pulwama terror attack.

Majithia, Parminder Dhindsa and other Akali and BJP MLAs continued to raise slogans against Sidhu during Question Hour. Akalis wore black badges to register their protest against Sidhu’s remarks.

In reply, Sidhu slammed Majithia. Heated arguments ensued between Sidhu and the Akalis.
