Navjot Singh Sidhu Quits The Kapil Sharma Show!

Darpan News Desk IANS, 21 Sep, 2016 07:15 PM
Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is seen on the hit Kapil Sharma Show as special judge, will soon be leaving it to concentrate on his political career.

Sidhu's wife has confirmed the development and said that he will now concentrate on his political career.

Navjot Kaur said, “Sidhu will now completely focus on Punjab politics. And that is why he has recorded all the shows till 30th September and has already said goodbye to the cast.” Sources in Awaaz-e-Punjab also claimed that Sidhu is returning to Punjab politics full throttle, now that his contractual obligations with the hit comedy show end in September.

Sidhu has formed his own political party Awaaz-e-Punjab Morcha and will be working towards people's welfare now.

He has however abandoned the idea of following through with a new political party to contest the Punjab elections, leading to speculation about a renewal of negotiations with Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party.

He offered a practical reason for his decision too. "The minimum time taken by a new party to win a state is almost two years, ample testimony to the fact that three months is too short a time for this Herculean task," he said, signing off with his slogan, "May Punjab, Punjabiat and every Punjabi win."

Mr Sidhu said in a press release today that he is inviting parties to ally with his forum, which he emphasised is not political, "for the betterment of Punjab".
