Sleuths of the Special Task Force, Mohali, arrested a Nigerian with 270 gm of heroin, worth around Rs 1.75 crore in the international market, here.

The suspect, Mmesoma of Ikeje, Lagos, Nigeria, was residing at TDI, Landran, said the police.

Superintendent of Police (STF) Rajinder Singh Sohal said they got a tip-off that Mmesoma was involved in drug peddling in the area.

“He was arrested while he was on his way to Sector 91, Mohali, to supply drugs to his regular customers there. During interrogation, he confessed that he used to procure the drug from Delhi at Rs 700 per gm and sell it in Mohali, Kharar and Landran at very high rates,” said the SP.

“He also supplied the drug in Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Ferozepur. His friend, Obina, also a Nigerian, was his accomplice in the crime,” said Sohal, adding that Obina was staying in a flat at Shivjot Enclave in Kharar.

He said Mmesoma had come in India on a student visa in 2013.

A case has been registered  at the STF police station in Phase 4 here.
