No fight between Gandhi families, says Maneka

Darpan News Desk, IANS, 16 Apr, 2014 01:51 PM
There is no fight between the Gandhi families, BJP leader Maneka Gandhi said Wednesday, a day after her son Varun was accused of "betraying the family" by Priyanka Gandhi.

"It's not a fight between two families, nor between two cousins. There's no war, this is an election," Maneka Gandhi told TimesNow television channel.

Her reaction came a day after Priyanka Gandhi told an election rally in Uttar Pradesh that Varun Gandhi, her estranged cousin, had "betrayed" the Gandhi family by joining the BJP.

Maneka Gandhi said: "I think they are fighting their own election, and my son is fighting his own."

Varun Gandhi and Maneka Gandhi are the Bharatiya Janata Party candidates from the Sultanpur and Pilibhit Lok Sabha constituencies respectively.

Priyanka Gandhi is campaigning for her mother Sonia Gandhi in Rae Bareli and brother Rahul Gandhi in Amethi.
