Pakistan violates ceasefire in Kashmir

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 05 Oct, 2014 06:42 AM
The Pakistan Army fired at Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir Sunday, violating a 2003 ceasefire, the defence ministry said.

The "unprovoked firing" lasted for 30 minutes and was "effectively and appropriately responded to" by Indian troops, an official statement said. There were no casualties.

On Saturday, Pakistan Rangers used mortars to target Indian positions on the international border in R.S. Pura sector of Jammu district.

Pakistan has been violating the truce on both the LoC and the international border in Kashmir, the northern third of which is controlled by Islamabad.
