'Pakistan Zindabad' Slogans At JNU: BJP MP Maheish Giri Lodges FIR Against 'Anti-National' Students

Darpan News Desk IANS, 11 Feb, 2016 11:22 AM
Maheish Giri, the BJP Lok Sabha member from East Delhi, on Thursday said he has lodged an FIR against 'anti-national' students of Jawaharlal Nehru University who opposed the death penalty to parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.

"Gave a written complaint to @DCPSouthDelhi requesting him to lodge an FIR against Anti-India elements in JNU," Giri tweeted.

He said he has asked the Delhi police commissioner to take strict action against the "anti-national elements" of JNU.

Giri said he has also written to union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani to take prompt action against the students.

"Any anti-national activity shouldn't be allowed in educational institutions at any cost. I am sure action will be taken at the earliest," he said in another tweet.

"Let's make it clear that if any student inflicts self harm after disciplinary action, govt shouldn't be held responsible. Enough of Drama," said Giri.

The university witnessed violent clashes between two students groups on Tuesday night over an event after which police were deployed to maintain law and order. The students from a Left wing organisation were to hold an event marking the death anniversary of Afzal Guru.

However, it was cancelled later by the university authorities after the vice chancellor received a letter on the issue.
