Pakistani troops fire again at Indian post in Jammu

Darpan News Desk IANS, 17 Jul, 2014 02:57 PM
Panic gripped Indian villages along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir Thursday evening as heavy firing exchanges took place again between the Pakistan Rangers and the Border Security Force (BSF), officials said here.

The Pakistan Rangers have been resorting to unprovoked firing in R.S. Pura sector of the international border in Jammu district since Wednesday, they said.

BSF Director General Devendra Kumar Pathak Thursday visited the BSF posts in Arnia and R.S. Pura sectors to take stock of the situation.

Police sources told IANS that despite the visit of the top BSF officer, firing exchanges were still going on.

On Wednesday, a BSF trooper was killed and seven people -- three troopers and four labourers -- were injured in Pakistani firing in the same sector.

Wednesday's firing took place in the Tent post area of the BSF in R.S. Pura sector.
