Parkash Singh Badal Says He Is Ready To Face Arrest In Sacrilege Probe

    A day after Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh hinted that the probe in the Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura firing case could go right up to the 'top', his predecessor, former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal said he was ready to face arrest by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).


    Addressing the media here on Thursday, he said that he has told the Punjab DGP that he was ready for arrest.


    Going on an offensive, Badal said that this was a political drama set up by the Capt Amarinder Singh government. “I don’t want to waste time and resources of Punjab, so I have offered myself for arrest. Since they have decided to do so, I am here in Chandigarh for it. I will be happy if my last days are spent in Amarinder’s jail.”


    Badal said that he stood up against political repression all his life, alleging that Capt Amarinder Singh had earlier also booked them in false cases. “Even my wife was put behind bars. So, I am sure they are arresting us again,” he said.


    He alleged that Capt Amarinder and the Congress always wanted to control gurdwaras.
