People Of Punjab Want Development, Not 'Theatrics': BJP On Sidhu Joining AAP

Darpan News Desk IANS, 18 Aug, 2016 01:43 PM
Amid speculations over former BJP leader Navjot Singh Sidhu meeting Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal and demanding chief ministerial candidature in Punjab, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said the people of Punjab want to be a part of development rather than “theatrics”.

“The less said, the better about the AAP party and Navjot Singh Sidhu. They can be in their tug of war, but I don’t want to get into any speculation as to who has asked for what,” said BJP leader Shaina NC.

“I can only say the people of Punjab don’t want to be part of theatrics, they want to be a part of good development that only comes with the BJP-Akali Government,” she added.

Sidhu met Kejriwal at his residence on the night of August 12.

As per media reports, Sidhu’s joining the Aam Aadmi Party is hanging fire, since the cricketer-turned politician failed to cut an ice with the AAP leadership over his demand of the party’s chief ministerial candidature in Punjab and a ticket for his wife Navjot Kaur in the upcoming assembly elections.

Sidhu had not come here to speak on his joining the party following his resignation from the Rajya Sabha, rather he was here to clarify the reason behind his resignation at a press conference, the party said.
