Perform or perish, Sukhbir Badal tells district officials

Darpan News Desk IANS, 11 Sep, 2014 10:48 AM
  • Perform or perish, Sukhbir Badal tells district officials
"Perform or perish" is the terse message that Punjab's deputy commissioners (DCs) got from Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal Thursday.

At a meeting of DCs held here Thursday, Badal directed them "to perform or perish", saying that they must reduce delays in implementation of government schemes, ensure timely delivery of services and check corruption in their respective districts.

Directing them to implement the new mining policy strictly, he also asked them to respond to people's grievances, including web complaints forwarded to them from his office, immediately.

"You have to ensure zero corruption in government offices by getting feedback from the people. Every deputy commissioner must forward the feedback, especially on the registries done in their areas, to their divisional commissioners and the chief secretary on a daily basis," he said.

Badal said that he was getting a number of complaints and grievances through e-mail and web portal feedback.

He issued instructions to the deputy commissioners to take immediate action on all the grievances and complaints being forwarded to them besides giving feedback regarding their current status to his office.
