Phagwara Ex-Panchayat Member SANDEEP SINGH Alia SANDY Shoots Himself, Live-streams It On Facebook

IANS, 30 May, 2018 11:21 AM
A former Panchayat member allegedly shot himself with his revolver and live-streamed the incident on his Facebook profile, police said on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Sandeep Singh alias Sandy (30), a resident of nearby Chachoki village, Urban Estate police post in-charge Mikhtiar Singh said.

He shot himself on his temple last night, the police said, adding he was depressed. Sandy's parents were settled in Canada and he lived all alone in his house, the police said.

Sandeep gave milk to his pet before taking the extreme step. Singh said the police have registered a case under Section 174 of the CRPC and have sent the dead body to Phagwara Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.

His Facebook page remained opened for 68 minutes on his computer, the police said.

Some of his friends and neighbours on seeing him with the pistol in his hand on Facebook rushed to his house to save him but Sandeep had already taken the extreme step. The deceased was in deep stress and was telling his friends about his last meeting with them in a gym last night.

Former minister Joginder Singh Maan rushed to his house after receiving the information of the tragedy. Family members residing in Canada have also been informed, the police said.
