Two people, including a child, died and at least 22 others were injured when a private tourist bus collided with a gas tanker head-on near Kathgarh on Balachaur-Ropar Road on Tuesday.
The accident occurred in the wee hours when the tourist bus was going to Chandigarh from Jalandhar and the tanker was on its way to Amritsar from Banur, the police said.
While the child died while being taken to the PGI Chandigarh, the other person died on the spot, they said.
The age of those who died is yet to be ascertained.
The injured were admitted to various hospitals at Ropar, Balachaur, Nawanshahr and PGI Chandigarh.
