PM Modi to flag off Goa's first Vande Bharat train on Saturday

New Delhi, June 2 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off Goa's first Vande Bharat Express train from the Madgaon railway station on Saturday via video conferencing.
The train is expected to improve the connectivity on the Mumbai-Goa route and provide people of the region with the means to travel with speed and comfort, an official statement issued by the PMO said.
It will be the 19th Vande Bharat train to run in the country.
The train will run between Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Goa's Madgaon station.
It will cover the journey in approximately seven and half hours, which will help save about one hour of journey time, compared to the current fastest train connecting the two places, the statement added.
"Three passengers were placed under arrest for carrying 1,872 grams gold dust concealed in specially designed undergarments whereas 2,840 grams was recovered during rummaging the flight's toilet," a Customs official said.
After a preliminary probe by the Crime Branch, the prosecution informed the court that around Rs 21 crores is missing, of which the Corporation alone has lost around Rs 10 crores. The fraud has been detected at the Railway Station Link Road branch of PNB.

The passengers sitting in the train said that a rod came crashing through the window of the coach and hit the neck of a young man sitting on the window seat. A SpiceJet flight from Jeddah to Calicut was diverted to Cochin where it made an emergency landing on Friday. The flight carrying 197 passengers had to make an emergency landing at the Cochin International Airport (CIAL) on Friday evening following hydraulic failure.
