  • Punjab AAP Convener Waraich To Contest From Batala; 3 More Named
The Aam Aadmi Party state convener, Gurpreet Singh Waraich will be the party candidate from Batala in the Punjab Assembly elections. His name was announced in the seventh list of candidates released by the party today, putting all speculations to rest. 
 
With fresh list of four candidates, the party has announced 103 candidates for the 117 seats so far.
 
Besides Gurpreet Waraich (Batala), Sukhwant Singh Padda will contest from Kapurthala. He is a 55-year-old farmer from Kheera Wali village and a diploma holder in solar energy.
 
Atul Nagpal (46), a farmer, will contest from Abohar. He is AAP’s Intellectual Cell Member and also runs an NGO, Sawera Foundation, in Fazilka.
 
Sukhwinder Singh Mann, a 41-year-old farmer and businessman, will be party’s candidate from Sardulgarh. He is AAP’s sector in-charge in Mansa.
 
Earlier, it was being speculated that Waraich will contest from Majitha against Cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia. But the sources said from the very beginning he was reluctant to the idea.
