Chandigarh, Feb 6 (IANS) The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Monday arrested former Congress minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot for amassing assets disproportionately to his known sources of income.
A spokesperson for the Vigilance Bureau said following investigations of an enquiry a case under the Prevention of the Corruption Act has been registered against Dharamsot.
Giving details, he said from March 1, 2016, to March 31, 2022, the income of the former minister and his family was Rs 2,37,12,596 while the expenditure was Rs 8,76,30,888, which was 269 per cent more than his known sources of income.
He said the former minister would be produced before the competent court in Mohali on Tuesday.
During investigation, the police learnt that a marriage function was going on at the Matangi Bhavan in Chattarpur. The 'barat' came from Bahadurgarh, Haryana, and the injured was part of the barat.

Prabhat Kumar, the lawyer of Lalu Prasad Yadav has filed a bail bond of Rs 10 lakh in the Ranchi high court. Besides, another Rs 1 lakh bail bond was also submitted in the court by Ranjan Kumar and Anant Singh, his bail guarantors in the court.
According to the official, a tip-off was received following which an NCB team raided the specified locations and recovered 50 kg high quality heroin, 47 kg suspected narcotics, Rs 30 lakh cash, cash counting machines and other incriminating material.
