Pushkar's murder probe to end soon: Police

Darpan News Desk IANS, 15 Jan, 2015 11:35 AM
The probe into the murder of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's wife Sunanda Pushkar will soon reach its conclusion, Delhi Police chief B.S. Bassi said Thursday.

Bassi said many people have been questioned and the remaining will be questioned in the next couple of days.

"Our SIT (Special Investigation Team) is investigating the case and will reach its conclusion soon. They are looking into each and every aspect. They have already questioned several people and the remaining will be questioned in the next couple of days," Bassi told the media.

Asked whether Tharoor will be questioned, Bassi said: "I will not take any specific name. All those relevant will be called for questioning."

Bassi said the process of sending Pushkar's viscera abroad for ascertaining the poisonous substance was on.

"In the next two days, the decision over the country will taken," he said.

Pushkar, 52, was found dead in a south Delhi hotel Jan 17, 2014. Delhi Police had lodged a murder case Jan 1 this year, two days after getting the final autopsy report from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Soon after lodging the FIR (first information report), the SIT questioned Tharoor's domestic help.

They also questioned two family friends and Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport staff members who reportedly witnessed an alleged heated argument between Tharoor and Pushkar after their arrival from Kerala two days before her death.
