Quit all administrative posts: Delhi BJP tells AAP, Congress

Darpan News Desk IANS, 10 Sep, 2014 08:45 AM
The Delhi unit of the BJP Wednesday asked the Congress and the AAP legislators and leaders to resign from all administrative posts in the Delhi government as well as district development committees.

According to Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party unit chief Satish Upadhyay, there are about 100 such posts in the national capital which are being headed by representatives of both the parties.

"Both the parties talk of morality and especially the AAP which claims that it wants to serve people and has no greed for power. Then why are its leaders still holding on to these positions and enjoying all the perks like government transportation and accommodation," Upadhyay said.

The BJP said Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, days before resigning from the post of chief minister, had constituted 11 development committees in Delhi, of which nine were headed by AAP legislators.

"Why did he form those committees if he was going to resign? And shouldn't these people vacate the posts now?" said Upadhyay.

"Similarly, every important department of the Delhi government is still being headed by the Congress. This proves that it is the Congress and the AAP which are running the Delhi government indirectly," he added.

Some of the departments named by the BJP include Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation, the Delhi Commission for Women, the Delhi Minorities Commission and the Delhi Waqf Board.
