Row Over Objectionable Video: Son Of Expelled Khalsa Diwan Chief Commits Suicide

Darpan News Desk IANS, 03 Jan, 2018 11:37 AM
A day after joining investigation, Inderpreet Singh Chadha, son of former Chief Khalsa Diwan president Charanjit Singh Chadha, reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself in Amritsar on Wednesday.

Amritsar DCP Amrik Singh said Inderpreet committed suicide in his Toyota Fortuner by shooting himself in the head at Ajnala road, Amritsar. He further said that no suicide note has been recovered till now.

Senior police officials reached his residence for carrying out investigations. Inderpreet was former vice-president of the CKD charitable society.

He was booked on charges of criminal intimidation. The case was registered after a video went viral on social media. Later, the school principal lodged a complaint with the police.

The principal had accused Chadha of misusing his position and “compelling her to have physical relations”. “When I refused, he threatened me,” the woman said. She added that Inderpreet threatened her on the phone.

Inderpreet, who was also booked in the case, appeared before a police investigation team on Tuesday.

Chadha and his son were expelled from the primary membership of the society.

However, he had got the interim bail from local court which had asked him to join the investigations. Yesterday, he had appeared before the special investigation team headed by ADCP Harjit Singh Dhaliwal formed by police commissioner to probe the case.

Amrik Singh Powar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, said Inderpreet committed suicide in his Toyota Fortuner by shooting himself in the head at Ajnala road here.

A close friend of the family said Inderpreet had asked his father to resign from CKD after his video surfaced on social media. He was also under pressure due to some family feud.
