Darpan News Desk IANS, 20 Sep, 2019 08:33 PM

Wrestling champ Sakshi Malik's father has a doting message for his daughter on the occasion of National Daughters Day on September 22.

The freestyle wrestler's father Sukhbir Malik has recorded a video message where he makes an emotional appeal to all fathers to stand by their daughters and support them in their journey to achieve their dreams.

While raising Sakshi in rural Haryana, Sukhbir helped his daughter not only realise her dream of pursuing a career in sports, but also helped her make it a reality.

Sukhbir was a bus conductor and stood by his daughter against all odds. Through his video appeal, he hopes to inspire many fathers to honour the girl child and give them the respect and care they deserve. The message is in sync with the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao mission.

The video is by Breakthrough, an organisation working to make violence and discrimination against women and girls unacceptable.
