'Sarbat Khalsa' Organisers Begin Akhand Path Near Talwandi Sabo

IANS, 06 Dec, 2016 12:53 PM
Organisers on Tuesday started the akhand path at the venue proposed for ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ at Talwandi Sabo in this district.

Confirming the development, Gurdeep Singh Bathinda, an organiser, said the akhand path began at 4.30 am and its bhog would be held at 6 am on December 8, the day ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ would be held.

“Police initially told us to stop the path, but later they had to return.”

He said, “We appeal to Sikhs to protest peacefully if they are stopped by police. We invite people from other communities to visit the ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ as observers. We have always supported mutual brotherhood and to protest non-violently is our right. If we are denied permission we would move the Supreme Court. ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ will be held at any cost.”

Earlier, the ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ was proposed at Bhagi Vandar village of Talwandi Sabo but the government did not allow it. Now, it will be held on the 30-acre land owned by Kirpal Singh at Talwandi Sabo on December 8.
