See PICS And VIDEO: Air India To Launch Non-Stop Toronto-New Delhi Flight From September 27

    Air India on Wednesday announced that it will be launching thrice-weekly flights on Delhi-Toronto route from September 27. The flights on the route will operate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

     

    "National carrier Air India is all set to launch its Delhi to Toronto non-stop with a convenient connection from Amritsar and other cities fulfilling a long-standing desire from the travel fraternity here and the Indian diaspora in Canada," it said in a press statement. The flight AI 187 will take off from Delhi at 3 am (local time) and will arrive at Toronto at 8.45 am (local time) the same day.

     

    The return flight will take off from Toronto at 12.15 pm (local time) and reach Delhi airport the next day at 12.15 pm (local time).

     
     

    The B777 aircraft, which will be deployed on the New Delhi-Toronto route, has been painted with pictures of Indian destinations. In addition to the images of landmark structures, the aircraft also features the airline’s motto of “Celebrating India” written behind the wings, above the windows.

     

    An official announcement by Air India on Facebook says, “We are getting ready for inaugural flight to Toronto on World Tourism Day, 27 September 2019. The B777 aircraft scheduled to operate Toronto service has been painted with pictures of Indian destinations, to showcase the tremendous richness and variety of India #celebratingindia.”

     
     
     

    Aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri earlier tweeted: "Delighted to announce the commencement of a thrice-weekly Air India flight between Sri Amritsar Sahib and Canada. The Amritsar-Delhi-Toronto flight will commence on the occasion of World Tourism Day on September 27, 2019."

     
     

    "Our Chairman and Managing Director Ashwani Lohani has given the task to decorate the aircraft with world heritage photos before going to Toronto. We started the work and today the aircraft is ready for use as per our CMD direction. Before decorating the aircraft we had taken prior clearance from Aviation watchdog Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)," Vaibhav Simpy, Senior Engineer, Air India MRO and Nodal officer of the aircraft told.
