Shraddha murder case: Aftab to be taken for medical check-up, Narco test likely today

New Delhi, Nov 21 (IANS) Delhi Police will on Monday take Aftab Ameen Poonawalla, accused of murdering his live-in partner and chopping her body into 25 pieces, to hospital for some crucial pre-tests ahead of Narco test.
As Aftab's five-day police custody ends on Tuesday, the Delhi Police is racing against time to get the tests conducted at Dr B.R. Ambedkar hospital in Rohini.
According to sources, police have officially contacted Rohini FSL to get his narco test done but it's not yet confirmed whether it will be conducted on Monday.
Meanwhile, investigators have come across several drug peddlers' contact numbers while scanning Aftab's phone.
"It is suspected that he smoked weed and charas. He had contacts of Mumbai and Delhi-based drug dealers in his phone which are being probed," said the sources.
Further, police teams have been sent to Tosh in Himachal Pradesh after it was revealed that he, along with his live-in partner, had stayed there for quite a long time.
Aftab had strangled his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar on May 18 and then chopped her body into many pieces.
So far, the place of offence, the rented accommodation in Chattarpur, has been closely inspected by the crime team and experts from forensics, police said.
From the house, multiple exhibits have been seized.
"Following up on the disclosures by Aftab, various combing operations have been carried out at various places, including some forest areas, from where several bones have been seized," said the official.
To ascertain whether the bones belong to Shraddha, the blood samples of her father and brother have been collected for DNA analysis.
Both -- Mandeep, alias Manna Tuffan, and Manpreet, alias Mani Rayia -- were allegedly involved in the murder of gangster Ranbir Singh, alias Rana Kandowalia. Kandowalia, who was facing dozens of cases of murder and attempt to murder, was gunned down outside a private hospital in Amritsar in August last year. The Bhagwanpuria group had taken the responsibility for the murder.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah had ordered a CBI probe into the death of Phogat. The move came after Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant recommended a CBI probe into the case as per demand of Phogat's daughter and people of Haryana.
The two-time chief minister of Punjab had fought the assembly elections in the state earlier this year in alliance with the BJP as well as Akali Dal (Sanyukt). His party - Punjab Lok Congress - though had failed to get even a single seat during the assembly elections.
During deliberations, the Chief Minister envisaged opportunities for mutual collaboration in business and solutions. He said that the alliance could provide on-field handholding to Punjab farmers in best practices of crop management.
Balkaur Singh, whose son was shot dead in daylight on May 29 close to his Moosa village in Punjab on May 28, had complained of uneasiness on Thursday night following which he was admitted to a private hospital in Patiala from where he was shifted to the PGIMER here.
Majithia told the media here that this was also necessary because the AAP government had neither made the FIR registered in this case public even after 24 hours, nor taken any action against any BJP leader or middlemen involved.
