Sidhu appoints Pargat Singh as Punjab Congress general secretary

Chandigarh, Aug 16 (IANS) Newly-appointed Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday appointed Jalandhar Cantt MLA and his close confidant Pargat Singh as the new general secretary of Punjab Congress ahead of the Assembly elections in the state scheduled next year.
He broke the news of Singh's appointment via a Twitter post.
Hours after resigning from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Chandni Chowk MLA Alka Lamba, here on Friday, rejoined the Congress after almost six years. Lamba arrived at Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi's residence and took the primary membership of the party.
