Smriti Irani Implementing RSS Agenda: Congress

Darpan News Desk IANS, 24 May, 2015 12:41 PM
The Congress on Sunday accused Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani of playing with the country's future by implementing the agenda of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

"Intentionally-induced institutional paralysis and diffusion of education have been the hallmarks of the Narendra Modi government's one-year in power," Congress national spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi told reporters here.

She said the situation had come to such a pass that the future of even the University Grants Commission was shrouded in uncertainty.

Rather than solidifying the India's well-established educational structure, the union minister had spent more time in demolishing institutions of prestige and downsizing highly motivated educationists, Chaturvedi said.

"Irani is trying to implement the agenda of the RSS."

The Congress leader referred to the exodus of educationists from some of the most prestigious institutions questioning Irani's functioning and cited the resignation of Anil Kakodar, chairman of IIT-Mumbai.
